According to the Statute of the State Inspectorate of Ukraine for Land Transport Safety, adopted by the Presidential Decree from 06.04.2011 № 387 the State Inspectorate of Ukraine for Land Transport Safety (Ukrtransinspektsiya) is the central executive body and is directed and coordinated by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine through the Vice-Prime-Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine.

The Ukrtransinspektsiya is a part of the executive branch and ensures the implementation of governmental policy for transport safety, particularly of the road transport safety.

In accordance with its tasks the Ukrtransinspektsiya provides:

· state supervision (control) over compliance with legislation, norms and standards on the road transport;

· state control and supervision of compliance with regulations concerning safety on the road transport;

· control of the implementation of the requirements of international treaties of Ukraine by the Ukrainian carriers;

· control of the international transportations of passengers and goods by road transport in the points of permits issuance to Ukrainian carriers.

The Ukrtransinspektsiya realizes its power directly and through its regional offices - Administration of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Kyiv and Sevastopol city, country, city and district administrations.
